I had a Sirrus for a while back in 2011, was a great bike for my commute and never let me down, comfortable and just kept on going. It never really excited me though and found it a bit boring..... weird but don't really know why!

Giant Fastroad are worth a look, Giant are always a nice bike.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm really liking the look of the giants, but not so much the Planet X bikes or the tribans, I know looks shouldn't be a deciding factor but if I'm parting with a large wedge of cash then I want a bike that gets me excited to ride it when I see it (shallow, I know). I've got plenty to go on now and plenty of researching/test riding to do over the next couple of weeks, please feel free to keep fireing more bike ideas at me as I'm always open to other options and really appreciating all the ideas.

Looks are the only factor worth considering once you've defined what type of bike you want. That and budget.

Sizing is simple. They either have the right size in stock or not. You can change parts to make a bike slightly bigger or smaller. So not worth over-thinking it.

Ride quality you'll get almost no proper feel for even if you take a bike out for like twenty minutes. It's in the real day to day cut n thrust world is when you get to know your bike. BB

That's very true, good luck with the search.

The Sirrus is a strange bike, looks really modern but feels like riding your Grandad's bike. I find it ideal for a commute, but utterly soulless and boring.

Can't comment on Quick 2, mine is a Quick 4...as far as I'm concerned it's a cracking bike - fair bit heavier than a CAAD8 105 say, but for my commute it's great. Seems fairly nippy, comfortable ride and so far it's been excellent in terms of reliability.
