Just finished a pizza in NY but earlier had Greek yogurt with strawberries, orange, grapefruit, blueberries, blackberries. I took a photo but it's got too many megapixels. And earlier, a first for me was a salmon and shrimp burger.

Tried Hrefnusteik (Minke Whale) in Iceland, but wasn't impressed, and equally unimpressed wit the fermented shark (Hákarl - everything tastes of ammonia for the rest of the day!)

The thing my wife has never forgiven me for though is for eating horse meat in Iceland or Reindeer inNorway

These threads have always descended into a competition between me and @Fab Foodie but it seems we have a new contender entering the ring in the shape of @growingvegetables

Off the top of my head....

Fried baby scorpions (taste of absolutely nothing so you dip them in salt and pepper as a savoury snack)
Fried silkworms (possible the most disgusting thing I've ever eaten). They were presented to me alive before frying to prove their freshness
"Donkey cooked 5 ways". There is no tasty way to cook donkey
Live fish. Well sort of live. It was presented uncooked with bits of flesh cut off it. It flapped about a bit on the plate which freaked me out
Bull's penis. Not delicious at all and despite trying to be grown up about it eating a willy seemed wrong on many levels

Snakes, dogs...that's all fairly standard in some parts of Asia. Snake is delicious. Dogs somewhat less so

All three of us are on my Scarborough CC ride so we will order everyone's food in the café stop, OK?

I can't compete!!!

Fried chicken intestines, turkey testicles, prairie oysters are amongst my weirdest but not particularly unpleasant to eat.
Donkey made into Salami is surprisingly edible.

Just be glad I travelled in the days LONG before digital photos! Some highlights :evil: (but just in words - you'll have to use your imaginations!)

- Stewed beaver in Ghana. [No, doesn't matter what the menu said, beavers don't live in Ghana. These were agouti (water rats) ... and delicious.]
- Basturma in Upper Egypt. [Think pastrami, with a thick black-peppered crust. But this was never beef - the best was made from donkey or camel meat.]
- Spatchcocked sparrows - also in Egypt; small, crunchy, and delicious. Freshly grilled by a street vendor on Ezebekiyah Square in Cairo. Damnit - the grilled crabs were superb too; small, and sweet.
- Sea Urchins in a beach cafe near Dakar, in Senegal, very briefly grilled. Exquisite.
- A perfectly normal lamb kebab beautifully cooked in a Cairo backstreet restaurant..... with a couple of sheep testicles slipped in for regular, respected customers. It's not just the flavour I remember, but the texture - and the "bite". The way they burst like meaty grapes in my mouth.
- Tripe in Yemeni soups. Sublime.
- "Elderly" mutton - wrapped in banana leaves, and very slow roasted in soil pits. Quite the most exquisitely tender and flavoursome meat I've ever tasted. In a lorry drivers' caff in Bajil, Yemen.
- Camel kebabs - a little tougher and gamier than sheep!
- Melokhia (Jews' Mallow), a green vegetable. Finely chopped and cooked with care, in a highly garlicked chicken/rabbit stock. Green. Gelatinous. A bowl of slimy snot. And delicious. A matter of personal pride, that I can cook it far better than my Arab ex-partner.

For those who may be feeling nauseous at my (lack of?) taste, there are a few things I have tried .... and won't ever touch again. No way. Never. Fesikh (Egyptian; fermented fish sauce). Guavas (vile; just vile). Kimchi. And Middlesborough's chicken parmo.
No need for the camera, you paint an exquisite picture in words.

Just on tripe - I've had some fantastic meals made with it in many places, from the 'callos' of Spain with chorizo and chick peas, through to the many varieties of stuffed and grilled intestines you get from the Balkans through to Western China.
