I ask, as I'm afraid I might be one.

I pretty much understand the many forms of cyclists that exist but have always been puzzled by this one.

I mean, I wear lycra and ride a road bike. I ride in a group and often use the activity for sport.

Am I a lout and if not, at what point do I risk ascension?

Lycra lout and proud :okay:*

*except on my commute when baggies roolz...

It's just a way for Daily Mail readers to express their hatred of cyclists. They see the gear and bike, group rides riding 25 abreast on narrow roads, and henceforth they are knows as lycra louts.

But they get drunk, abusive, often violent and then fall asleep. Lycra louts don't seem to do that...they just seem to ride a bit quicker than other people or perhaps ignore other riders a bit...i have been known to do both but would hate to be thought of as a lout.

He only got seven months for killing somebody. It puts motorists' sentences into some sort of perspective.

If he was wearing lycra he could easily be defined as a 'lyra lout' as well as a complete pillock.

+1 to old story vs you can find cars killing daily and in similar / more egregious circumstances.

Also the perspective that kill in a car and it's often prosecuted as careless driving, not even dangerous. Reported that CPS thought that both of those were too minor for this. Hmmmm.

Not to excuse any selfish harm caused to others by any form of transport.
