So yea... What's going on with the weather? I thought we where going to have a good summer, so far the past weeks it's been p155ing it down every day.

I was going to do 65 mile today was looking forward to it, then the bloody rain (oh and thunder just started as I wright this post) starts, was heavy too, road turned into a river since it's a slightly hill outside my flat!

I'd normally have gone out but I'm paranoid the back of my worn out Clifton shorts are see through when they get wet, I'm still unsure even though I put them on, filled a cup up and wet my backside, they did not appear transparent so hopefully good! Going to buy a flinger mudguard for the back tomorrow, don't like wet a$$ much.

So when you look out of the window and it's absolutely pi55ing it down do you hesitate to go out? My bike is as good as new again as day before yesterday I took the time to clean it all and it's shiny again!

Thanks
Will.

Summer 2007 and 2008 had large parts that were totally washed out. If the current winds and intermittant showers aren't there later this summer I'll be very happy.

My bike looks like a bag of shite covered in mud and filth but what the heck it's meant for riding, I don't think I will bother cleaning it for a while not much point in this weather.

Everytime I have gone out this month it has rained but you can't let the weather dictate when you go out. I bought a waterproof jacket last month which was lucky, bit I know what you mean it's annoying and takes me a while to persuade myself to get off my arse and go out.

There's a couple of white fluffy clouds, the sun is out, otherwise blue sky and temperature is 24°C at the moment. What's the problem?

It's just started heavy again in city center  It's much better weather in York atm I notice

I'd never not clean my bike for a while now!!, not after my last bike, I'm taking care of this cannondale and after every wet ride I'll clean it fully so it's as clean as when I got it brand new.

I hesitate less to go out in this sort of weather when I'm not on my own, don't know why.

Always is, York gets much less rain than Manchester and many other places. York's very dry.

I think the long term forecast is still good, so here's hoping there'll be less rainy days than the numerous ones we got in 2007 and 2008.

Manchester wouldn't be the size it is without the weather - it was the dampness that made that part of the country ideal for cotton spinning and weaving - the dampness keeps the fibres pliable and prevents them breaking.

I seem to remember we had this pattern last year - a hot spell in April, then April showers (which is what we've had in York, really, as opposed to sustained rain) in May. It would be nice if we could have a nice summer - my memory suggests that the last two have been more miserable than 'normal'.

I don't do well in a heatwave though, so just nice and sunny would do, nothing extreme.
