I can't help noticing on these threads dealing with confrontation that there is a significant number of posts in which the author feels the need to state that he is tall, powerful, muscly, can handle himself etc... (I've always giggled at that last one).

It is always male posters and they seem attracted to this type of thread, where near-confrontation is dissected and mulled over.

Am I the only member of CycleChat who is grey, getting older and is no longer as strong or quick as he was, which in fact he wasn't... even then?

Can we have a special topic heading for male posters who feel the need to say how strong they are, what the diameter of their bicep is, what they'd do to a naughty driver or (best of all) how they could but wouldn't because they combine the muscle of Van Damme with the serenity of a Bubbhist monk.

I'm just saying...

(I put the smiley face in so nobody feels the need to tell me what their immense strength and martial skill would enable them to do to me if they weren't reformed).
I get ya, I'm 6 foot, well built and 14.5 stone BUT the last time I punched someone in anger was when I was 10 and burst into tears because I thought I'd hurt the other person  I tremble at the first sign of trouble.

I'm all those things, and hung like a donkey, and I positively frown on confrontation. My sexy looks and rippling muscles are for the chicks and the mirror, not to be wasted in fisticuffs.

And Van Damme, muscular? I've laid cable with more muscle than that ;)

I heard a nice quote on radio 4 this morning from the AA or RAC after a busy weekend rescuing cars from the floods:

''Just because you have a 4x4, it doesn't mean it's amphibious.''

EDIT: I just came across it again: Twas the ambulance service! ''
The manager of the West Midlands ambulance service tells the Times many of the hundreds of calls they received were from drivers of four-by-fours, who had wrongly assumed their cars could cope with the flooding.
"Just because your vehicle has four-wheel drive, doesn't make it amphibious," he says.''

It's obvious anyone that drives one of those oversized cars in such a way to bully smaller, easier targets is definitely trying to make up for something lacking. Surely they must know we know?:giggle:

I had this bullying happen on saturday when in traffic in my A-class merc. These big vehicle drivers throw their weight around all the time. He really was aggressive and ended up weaving between lanes and undertaking a line of cars at IMO 85+mph in the end to gain 3 places in the traffic jam we all ended up in atthe end of the dual carriangeway.

Oh, sorry, my 4x4 only has a book top speed of 82mph, so that wouldn't ever be mine in any case.
