On my way in to work today I was approaching a junction to turn right (wearing High Viz) I indicated to turn right and thus began to move into the primary posistion, I was aware that there was a van approaching me from behind and noticed that he was not giving way so I had to quickly move back into the left hand side of the road and into the gutter, I then banged on the side of his van (that was how close he was to me) he told him what an idiot he was and reminded him that I had right of way, he just said "so Fuc*ing what" and realising that there was no more point in arguing with him I rode off, he then proceeded to swerve into me as I was cycling and run me off the road, he then dove off off a further 30-40 yards and pulled up outside a corner shop (I presumed he was about to deliver) I shouted up the road to him and grabbed for my mobile, he saw me do this and he drove off quickly, a witness then walked accross the road towards me and said "I saw all that and will be your witness at what he tried to do" I called the police and gave the details of the incident of the van reg number, my witness also gave her details.

I rode about half a mile up the road and saw him delivering bread and milk to another sweet shop (I rode past), so what is likely to happen now?

Can't speak for the Police side of things, but did his van have his business name on it? It might be worth complaining to his boss (though I don't know if that would conflict with your complaint to the Police)...

No, there wasn't any company name on the side or any sign saying "how was my driving" but it wouldn't be hard to find out as it must be a regular delivery.

I think that you'll have to give the report in person, and your witness may have to as well. You may get fobbed off with "You HAVE to report it within 24 hours". Don't believe this, it's a misinterpretation. The obligation is to report an accident involving damage or injury within 24 hours. It's not a cut-off period after which reports can't be accepted.

Definitely try and find out whose van it is, and complain to them too.

Now, I must get on with my Metrobus complaint.

It has been reported, I dialled 999 at the time of the incident

Keep us informed of what happens. This was a serious incident as he used his van to assualt you. I'm very glad to hear you were ok and that you had a wittness.

I take it you got the reg? If so, you could post it here, as someone might be able to check if it was insured.....

Thanks, luckily I was fine, just had a feeling this guy would do something like that, so in a way I was almost prepared for it and was easily able to take the appropriate action.

I dialled 999 at the scene and left mine and the witness details, as for being insured, im a 100% sure he was as it was a company van and he was on delivery.

Can't see the harm in putting the reg No, but the forum admin might not like it?

Might not hear another, but will update this thread if I do

Sounds to me like you might be in luck in that you have an independent witness to the incident – keep at it and stress that you have been the victim of a crime – good luck – sounds like the sort of driver that should be taken off the road for a while…

Being the sort of annoying chap that I am, I’d also go into the shops he delivers to and have a chat with the manager/owner of each one, asking them to pass on a message to the git…

My feeling at the time was outrage, but more than anything, I just thought that this bloke needs to be reminded of his behaviour and the highway code, I also feel that I am more experienced and was able to avoid injury at the initial incident, but had damaged the confidence of a child or inexperienced rider. All I want is for the Police to feel his collar and tell him that just can't do this sort of thing.

No need to post the registration, Google is your friend - I searched for 'is a car insured' and used the first link.
