What is the advantage of Ahead sets?

I'm looking at a bike that has had the traditional stem changed to an Ahead set, using an adaptor. Why would you want to do that?

aheadsets give you a greater choice of stem length,angle etc,as quil stems become hardr to find

Lighter, easier to adjust.
Downside is less adjustability of stem height.

There are definite advantages of Quill stems, very easy to swap out bar / stem combos, but they are heavy.

This weight thing always interests me. How many are really fit and athletic enough to notice that their handlebar stem weighs a few ounces more than someone else's?

Cumulative: lighter wheels, bars, stem, crankset, groupset etc all add up to a rather large weight saving. Probably negligible on its own.
