I would be lost without my in/outdoor thermometer. A vital piece of cycling kit. The lowest temperature I would set off at would be 0 deg C. I realise I'm a wimp as I often see plenty of cyclists when I'm sadly waiting for the bus. However, I do think they must be mad.

Today was the first time for almost a year i did not cycle in, nothing to do with temperature our local roads were sheet ice, never check temperature in the mornings but i would think we must have had -3 or 4, but if it were lower it would not stop me riding.^_^

I was reliably informed it was -10c the other morning (Wednesday 16/01/13) as I rode to work - a colleague passed me and their display showed it to be that cold. I was like toast in my longs, thin L/S T-shirt, jacket, gloves, wooly hat and CYCLE CHAT BUFF!!!!!!

My commute is only 5 miles so I never check the temperature.

I'll commute in anything except ice.

Whatever temperature I could no longer keep warm in. I've been down around -8 with winter cold gear on designed for walking/hiking, however I've never had the opportunity to cycle in colder temperatures!

I think the first thing to stop me cycling would be a depth of snow that is physically impossible to cycle in. I'm not too worried about ice as I just take it slow and steady. If it got really bad I'd buy a pair of studded tires.

My bike doesn't work at minus 10c and below as I discovered on the way to work a couple of years back. Not only do the gears freeze but the crank set fails and the pedals stop working. No idea how, but I didn't half feel stupid in the nice warm lbs a few hours later when they couldn't find anything wrong!
