Yep CJ Sansom isn't too bad. Some of his medieval ones get a little samey after a while though.

My friend who lives in Scumdee took me there. Not bad if you like charity shops and pensioners. Actually, I went out dancing there the night I decided I was getting a divorce although I'm not sure if the two things are related

I've read the Secret Scriptures and the Sansom one, can't remember the story but they got read, if no good I abandon after the second chapter
Modern books about Chinese concubines are sort of watered down historical fiction.
For the real thing read Pearl S. Buck.
