Is expected on a sportive?

Work have a few places available for free for the etape-cymru 2013 but I'm reluctant to apply for a place as I've never done more than a 20 mile ride in 1 go.

How noob friendly are these types of events?

There'll be a few who've not done that distance before and if you've time, you could build up to it.

If it's a freebie and you're willing to put the prep in, then go for it.
