How much is it worth? Not sure whether to buy it. Cheers.

If i'm correct, thats an 80s Raleigh Phoenix, probably 12 speed (6 speed double), SIS downtube shifters, Chro-mo frame (standard, heavy but very durable)...
nothing outstanding but a very useable bike, i'd consider it an excellent commuter or fitness / turbo bike.
I assume theyre not chrome rims...chrome rims are the devil, useless braking usually.

I concur with @gbb

@coco69 was selling one back in 2011 but the THREAD suggests it didn't sell, at least not on CC anyway.

One sold on EBAY a couple of weeks ago for around £74 all in, which IMO would be about right as long as the bike is mechanically A1 and ready to ride, but if you're going to have to start chucking any money at it then I'd negotiate down from this point accordingly.

FYI it isn't one of the more desirable frames TBH, (they start from 501 tubing and must be lugged), but it should be a solid and dependable machine if the basics are OK.

I would say late eighties, probably a Cro-mo frame with a unicrown fork, not the lightest but that doesn't matter too much. Seven speed. Looks to be in very nice condition. If it's around a £120 I should buy it, if it's been looked after and not too worn it will continue to serve you well for another thirty years.

Just do the usual checks, wheels for trueness. Hold the front brake on and rock the bars back and forth to check the head bearings, might just need adjustment. Also pull the cranks sideways to feel for any play in the BB.

I have a Schwinn with a similar frame from the same era and it's a joy to ride.

Quite a big frame, around 25" from the looks of it so I am assuming you are 6ft plus.

Thanks very much for those details.

The owner says it's 23" but maybe he measured it wrong. I'm 5'11" so 25" would definitely be too big. I'm going to go and check it out.

Difficult to correctly assess the size from the pics. Measure from the centre of the crank to the top of the seat tube. Alternatively swing your leg over to check for Victor Sylvester factor (plenty of Ballroom!).
