Perfect timing today for this question..

My work has moved. A 3 mile commute has become a 4.2 mile commute. Nothing to write home about (or on here about) normally...

I've been lazy the last 18 months so roused myself from my pit early in the morning to take a 23 mile scenic route. Not so flat either, out from Sheffield to the top of Fox House, down to Ladybower, clinb back through Bamford over Moscar and back down to the Rivelin Valley. Not an impressive day ride but for me, enough to do before breakfast.

And okay, after about 18 months of gradually increasing laziness, I set off not sue if I could do it...

So the question today "do you still come on your bike or is it too far now [that it's 4 miles]?" was perfectly timed, for the response detailing the morning's route "well, it was a little bit further...." and I did have a chuckle at the disbelief on the lad's face as if I'd just swum the channel blindfold with my arms and legs trussed together.

Mind you, people don't even believe that I walk the 8 mile round trip some days, apparently that's superhuman too (but I remember when I felt the same way)

Anyway, something I noticed this morning - if any Sheffield / Dark Peak members want a chuckle and are out Ladybower way, call in at the Sickleholme service station. They're having a raffle, £1 a time and a lovely BSO as a prize. Great photo of it on the advert....

...with the forks as one would expect - backwards!

Glad I did this yesterday

Yesterday: 6:30 heading up to the exposed hills - Summer cycling top & thin Aldi sleeveless gilet. Had to wipe the occasional sweat bead. Only hint of chill was a bit of "winter nipple" on the lovely long winding 40mph drop from Moscar

Today: 8:00 taking the straight, sheltered route to work - heavy cotton tee, windproof long sleeved coat & had red numb fingertips & white knuckles

Temperature. Dropped. Just a bit.
