Search and rescue - in Northamptonshire?

Pleasant enough county, but I'm struggling to understand how anyone could get lost and need rescuing in it.

As aforementioned, a lot of it is despondent, suicidal or dementia folk. Sometimes we don't find them, sometimes we find m and walk them out, sometimes we stretcher them out or call a heli, or sometimes we end up preserving a crime scene. One a super result this summer was my oppo directed a search out of county backing up a neighbouring team and we recovered a very dehydrated dementia sufferer laying in a field of crops, just several hours before the field was due to be swept with a combine... The guys son is a friend of a sleb so we got a little publicity for that one.

We do a little rope work in the quarries and stuff and steeper terrain in the North or the county, but not a great deal, sort of mountain rescue lite. We cross train with Edale MR for that. We're also flood response and rescue trained, but thankfully that one doesn't roll around too often.

Very interesting and rewarding to become involved in, and any one interested can track down their local team via the ALSAR website.

As well as locating the non responsibles who wander off all over the country, there are quite a few man made hazards in Northamptonshire - quarries, tunnels, disused mines, waterways and so on - that sometimes cause people to get into difficulty if they underestimate the dangers because, hey, it's mostly a pleasant enough county
