What to do with a few days off?

I find myself having taken a week off just because I couldn't be bothered with work; such are the joys of agency work and being semi-retired. Sometimes you can turn the tables on these zero hour sharks; they don't like it when you remind them it works both ways .

Trouble is, I didn't plan it very well and the weather is looking dodgy for most of the UK for the coming week.
I want to do a cycle tour and I'm sitting looking at a map. Largs - Lanark - Melrose - Kielder - Newcastle - train home. This might involve getting wet and fighting the wind, but so be it.

The alternative is to jump on the motorbike and head through the rain to the possibly warmer and sunnier weather in the south west. I have never been to Devon and Cornwall before, but I'm not sure I am "motorbike fit" enough for that distance. I might need traction when I get there.

Plan "C" jump on a train with bike and go somewhere for a few days, anywhere within £150 return train fare (that might get me a day trip to Ardrossan then ).

Plan "D" phone work and do a couple of shifts in the rain, then get away another time.

Any suggestions?

Sleep till Tuesday. Pack a bivibag tent (or scrounge kips en route from the folks on here) Fly to Bristol; hire a bike; cycle to Devon/Cornwall along the north coast routes, go back a different route.
Mind, you'll still need....

Thanks. Motorbike plan bites the dust! .....
Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:
It will stay rather changeable with brisk winds, a cool feel and outbreaks of rain. Wednesday probably the driest day but there is a risk of rain across southern Britain.
