Right, this will be a first for me so I want to make sure its a great experience. Im going to France for a few days in July to watch the TDF but don't know which stages I should go and see.

Has anyone got any recommendations as to what stages I should go to, I plan on possibly camping. Any feedback or recommendations will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Ventoux - ascent, get there early. Take bike.

Alpe d'Huez should be amazing this year with the double ascent! My bf and I are renting a chalet right in the old town, let me know if you're interested in staying with us. We'll be cooking up a feast every day as well

Started young, and still going.

Barnet,
The Ventoux and Alp D'Huez will be a geat experience. Get there a day or two early though. Go to Paris for the last day, a place on the Rue D' Rivoli is well worth it.

time trials.

I went many years back on my motorbike (no, I did not compete) but by the time I got to the course, not easy dueto various road closures, stood by the road to see the oeloton whizz past and it was over in 30 seconds. oofff - so what to do for the rest of the day.

at least with TT you a guaranteed to see all the riders plus can spend a gew hours watching cyclists.

TBH any road cylcing race that does not involve laps is better watched on telly, or you do what the frenchies do and take table and chairs and have a roadside picnic with the short distraction of a road race at some point in time,

..and there was me thinking that actually TT is better on telly, as otherwise you have no idea about how the event is progressing..
It might be just me though!

me too stopping in Grenoble cant wait^_^

How you getting around? I'm not sure whether to hire a car or use public transport. Any thoughts? I was thinking of flying in to Chorges on the 16th, seeing the individual TT on the 17th and then heading to the Alp D'Huez for the 18th? What do you reckon?

was going to try and see the St Malo and mont st michel stages, but getting there is a nightmare unless i want to arrive on a saturday and leave a day after , which is fine for me but SWMBO seems to have an issue with that !

I'm climbing Alpe D'Huez the week before the pros. Do you reckon they'll do it twice in the time it takes me to do it once?
