The other evening when I got in after a bit of a struggle ride home I thought I would weigh my rucksack which I strap to the bike. It weighed in at 11 lbs Is that heavier or about the norm? I have tried to lighten the load but that was without my heavy duty lock.. What does your kit weigh?

Despite having a "super light" bike, I have about 25pounds of work kit. I suppose my Fujin is also a panzerfiets, LOL! I do leave my lock attached to my office bench though. It's been there so long it has a green coat of paint even.

Why not leave the lock at work?
I just carry a repair kit, spare inner in a saddle bag and a pump.
No bike commuting until September for me, now that Ramadhan is here and I'm fasting. No prohibition on cycling, but I'd get thirsty.

Agreed. Leave the really heavy stuff you use for commuting (e.g. heavy-duty locks) at work. I just secure my 2 heavy-duty locks to the bike cage at work, so they remain there all the time.

Depends on the weather (nice weather, lighter clothes to change into at work) but 5 kilos at most including the bag.

I can't as I cycle to the station and usually leave the bike their, as I could be anywhere in London that day for a meeting or two. So I can't even leave stuff at my office base.

On a monday it is a fair weight ,add to it the weight of the rack it has got to be heading for 20 Llbs

I carry next to nothing and what I carry fits into the short pockets. I used to carry a small back pack and then started looking at what I could leave at work. The lock stays at work - permanently. I carry spare clothes about once a week, usually in the car.
