What Year Giant Defy 2 is this?

Wondered if anyone could help.

What year Defy 2 would this be?

My friend (who's had a few beers) swears blind he has one exactly the same colour etc. as the one in this picture but says it is definitely a 2011 model. I say from a quick internet search that it is the 2012 model.

Who is correct?

I showed him those photos but he is still adamant that its a 2011.

Maybe he got an early release, Giant tend to overlap their models a bit.

An for what it's worth, I prefer the look of the bottom (older) one

Yeah I saw that and you were too late by about 6 months or I'd have had it off you. I've just converted my Giant FCR to drops and it's almost exactly the same spec now. Same frame, shifters and groupset.
