The images of banana anthracnose do not match the image provided by the original poster.

Tend to agree - closer examination of the original pic shows - the skin(on your banana) still appears to have full thickness. Whereas the anthracnose appears to have dissolved the skin and affected the banana fruit inside. Only an opinion though - I'm no expert!!!

Bringing the several ideas of this thread together, how about leaving one of these on your table?

The perils of buying a BSO (banana shaped objects) from a non-specialised banana supplier. In future, buy from your local banana shop (LBS) and who will only sell quality bananas which will be adjusted to correctly fit the fruit bowl and will come a free service thrown in to ensure that the skins are indexing correctly and haven't suffered from stretch or corrosion.

Oh dear!

I think I smell a rat .. well, not actually smell one, but there are signs.

After suffering damage to several bananas, but never to ones that were sealed in bags, we sprinkled some flour round the banana stand (where the bananas stand) on the kitchen table. And sure enough, this morning when we got up, the flour was disturbed, and there was a trail of foot prints across the table.

The strange thing is, we've had mice before, and you can hear them rampaging and crashing around the place. This creature is as quiet as a err .. not mouse.

Hey ho! A 'phone call to the Rat Catcher, methinks.

Barnet,
If it is a rodent, you should be able to see not only footprints, but the trail of it's tail.
