Thanks for this, missed it somehow, been using http://www.bikehike.co.uk/mapview.php for years but cycle.travel has some useful extras. Downside of that is wanting to do a journey over several days totalling more than 200km without guessing what sensible intermediate points are.Dunno about the best. but Via Michelin isn't bad if you enable the bike option.
Won't do routes longer than 200km IIRC, but the chances of me riding over 200km in a day are substantially slimmer than I am.
