Raining, right?? I'm hoping the met office is wrong.
We're heading there for the weekend, plan being to take the kids on the pleasure beach.
It seemed like a good idea when we booked the train tickets and hotel in August!
Has anyone been on a wet day? Does everything stop or we will be able to chuck on a poncho and get on with it? There's no such thing as bad weather right?!
I need to book tickets today to get an £80 saving, or talk the kids and Mr6 into going to the sandcastle instead.

I think the illuminations are still on so that's a plus. I haven't been for a few years but i believe it's gone downhill a bit lately with many hotels and guest houses letting out there rooms to DSS types. Avoid the pubs and nightclub areas and you should have a good time.

Some time ago had a family outing to the illuminations. We arrived in Blackpool about 12 o'clock ready to spend the Saturday afternoon in the pleasure beach. Left Blackpool approximately 55 minutes later after encountering numerous groups of drunken, swearing, fighting, threatening, vomiting, urinating lasses in the area around the Tower. The behaviour of the lads was even worse.

A long time ago I left Blackpool on the same train that I arrived on. I set foot on the station concourse, decided that it wasn't a nice place to be and did an about turn.

I'd check about the illuminations - I'm pretty sure they're not on in January. Council cuts and all that.
Would also be worth checking the PB opening times. They can be quite limited in winter months (i.e. shutting early, opening late).

If you're taking Mr 6 and the kids then you probably won't have to worry about being chatted up. Then again, knowing the residents of Blackpool they'd probably just consider that a challenge! ^_^
