well it wasn't the worst, e.g badly made it was just a result of the early development. A shogun mountain bike mid 1980s, from Halfords. after every ride in mud/water i had to strip down and rebuild bearings dure to lack of any seals on hubs or bb

My current bike - raleigh 300 airlite - if only i'd knew to buy a spare pair of wheels rather than the great but very light and weak wheels that where on it and hence start of probs...so the only thing, now, I have on the dam thing is the frame and brakes !

1st and only time I buy an off-the-peg bike!

My current bike too - Dawes Discovery 201 (hybrid).
Bought for taking daughter to nursery on bike seat and commuting.
So far, have got through / replaced:
- both inner tubes
- both tyres
- chain
- bottom bracket
- Rear gear wheel
- brake and gear cables
- frame.....

not impressed....

Raleigh Mustang, of late 1980s vintage. It had chromed wheels, so whenever it rained, the brakes would be completely (and I mean completely) non-functional, then would grip suddenly and throw you over the bars. It also had a splatter pink/ purple paint job.

I traded it in for a 1992 GT Tequesta and my love for mountain biking began.

I've never owned a reall duff bike, but I've worked on a couple of cheapy pretend MTBs and those things are awful. So dreadful they're depressing to work on. I usually gave them back to the owners with the words: "there's not much worth doing on this, it's a heap of sh*t. Get something better as soon as possible". I should have been a diplomat.

Not badly made by any means, but I have an old Hercules which must weigh close to half a hundredweight -I avoid hills at all costs!

Kona Kikapu Deluxe, it had really awful Hayes Sole brakes that you had to wind out by hand as they wore down. They also made the fork judder alarmingly every time you braked.

SWMBO once bought me a bike off one of the TV shopping channels for £100. I put it together, rode it up and down the road and then hung it in the shed. There it remained for a number of years until someone took it off our hands for £50.
