What's this sticker on a lamp post?

This sticker has recently appeared on the lamp post outside my house, and I've seen apparently random members of the public scanning it:

Any ideas what it's about?

I can answer my own question.

I've worked out how to scan it and found out it's a Munzee: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Munzee

Have you tried carefully filling in bits of the white with black marker pen?

Or just randomly adding black spots...

If you're too random, the error-correction will, well, correct it.

Why not just encode an offensive message and stick it over the top?

Jeez - I am so off the pace in this new fangled world that I find myself in.

I'm perpetually surprised at the ever shifting and evolving 'things' (I was searching for a more intelligent word than 'things' but failed miserably) that happen outside of the little bubble of paradise that I inhabit in the Lake District.

I know about the code thingys but have never heard of Munzees ie global scavenger hunt games.
