I was right about that saddle
I've stupidly offered to try and fix a rear MTB wheel for a colleague

It is missing its internals!

If anyone can help me work out the right shaft, bearings and cone ends (wrong terminology i'm sure)

Or I can suggest just getting another wheel!!!!

Good luck.

It's not particularly simple. No guarantee you'll get the right parts. Most difficult will be getting suitable end caps/seals. He needs a new wheel.

It looks like a freewheel. You need to remove that to get to the bearings.
You wont find any cones with a seal that fit. I would go with any cone that fits and overpack with grease. You can get axle + cones and nuts in Chinese cheese metal.
A new wheel is probably more economical

Well well well

The bearings on my old MTB are the same as the wheel I am trying to repair.

I didn't pull my bearings out but I wonder if this is a bearing retainer - a single unit, or an end cap with loose bearings. I have sourced an axle.
