Just stumbles across my battered copy of "Bike Riders Aids" sans cover, dated 1969.

Mmmmmmm. Just a few examples of the kit available;

Campag Record Chainset, complete - £18.00
Mafac Racer Brakes - £4.00
Brooks B17 Professional Saddle - £3.50

Sigh..................

Ah - that was the catalogue from Holdsworth bikes. My LBS, where I'd bought my Holdsworth maufactured bike in 1967, could get anything from that catalogue by 4pm if you ordered by 10am and next morning by 10am if you ordered after then. They could really do better than that, but we were only 30 minutes fron Putney by 93 bus, 20 minutes by bike!

I remember those lights. Ever Ready, came as a set of front and rear.

Suitable for speeds in real darkness of up to at least 5mph, rear light visible up to at least 25 metres in normal street lighting, battery life about 5 hours, no rechargeables available and they cost quite a lot and were big (D size).

I have a set of those lamps. They came on my Peugeot. I bought batteries to try them out, then gracefully retired them after one ride...
