Sometimes, I leave myself in the room because other people tend to join at least if it says "Chat 1", though every so often I check to find "joined, hello, left"

Bearing in mind that I've never really got the hang of anything to do with computers, I do wonder why there is a chat facility when on every thread topic we ... er ... chat. Is this yet another case of me completely missing the IT-point?
