Hi, sorry if I am asking a question already asked, but I am impatiently waiting for my new bike to arrive, and thinking about where I am going to put it.

We don't have a shed, and not really enough space outside for one (although I could move the kids wendy house and make a bit of space on the hardstanding at a push), but I was thinking I'd prefer to keep it indoors anyway. However we have three kids and live in a two bedroom house  so space is tight. I was thinking about hanging it on the wall - am I insane? Has anyone done this and what with - any recommendations for brackets, what to look for or avoid? My kids are little so it needs to be kept out of the way of them; one of them likes scissors.

Wall brackets are a nice idea. Put it over the fireplace as 'art'.

Oh, and if I do put it on the wall, does anyone have a view on whether or not it's okay to be above a radiator?

I converted the loft to put all the clutter there plus my treasured bike which is only used a few of times a year has pride and place. The other 4 bikes live in the garage soon to be 5:wahhey: .

Here for rides.
I'm a shed man, most of the fleet resides there. There's another shed for all the/her gardening crap. But the bike in use, i.e. whatever I'm cycle-commuting on at the moment lives in the 'boot room' overnight, near a radiator, along with the Brompton for mixed mode days and trips to the Great Wen, when the train takes some of the strain, and the shopping/pub bike lives under a cover just outside the back door.

it is possible I have too many bikes, but by no means certain, and don't tell the lovely Helen that I said so...

The downstairs room that would be the main living room in a normal household, has become a bike shed, workshop, gym and storage area in mine! The displaced living room is now featured in what would normally be the main bedroom on the first floor, and the bedroom is now in the second floor attic room, along with my home office area which takes up one corner of the room.

I see this as assigning the correct level of priority to my bikes, and secondary matters such as sitting around watching TV or sleeping are given the consideration they deserve!

In my Edinburgh flat, the ceilings are high and it is possible to store a couple on pulley things that hoist them up and out of the way in the utility room. The other bikes I hang over the boiler on wall brackets.

In Italy, most houses have full basements - no problem with storage at all.

I do have a shed but it's cold in there so two are in my long lounge (MTB & hybrid) and the exercise bike, the roadbike is in the spare bedroom (carbon, lighter to take up the stairs)...live alone, cat doesn't seem to mind too much!
