went to send a PM, and cannot see a link on the members profile

if it is via 'conversations' then it's open for anyone to read

or am i missing something..?

top right of your page should say Inbox and Alerts.
hover over inbox, then at the bottom right of the drop down box is an option to start a new conversration, which is a PM.
