I have never used a camera on a bike but I have always assumed that a camera mounted somewhere on the rider's body has a whole heap of vibrations damped out because it is fixed to something squishy and flexible. I thought that this would always give a better un-blurred image. Has image stabilisation software reached a point where a bike frame mounting gives as clear footage? I am genuinely curious. Thanks.

I don't know about stabilising software, my ATC has probably got anti stabilising software; orgamist however with a much better camera (I think its Go Pro) achieves a very stable image with a frame mount. Maybe its because mine is on the bars (as opposed to the frame) but I reckon its got more to do with the quality of kit.

In the following video, the GoPro HD Hero was mounted to the bike, the Muvi was mounted to my helmet. Because of it's very wide angle of view, 170 degrees, the GoPro shows very little vibration. The Muvi with a narrower angle of view picks up more vibration. The GoPro is the first half of the video and was recording at 720p 30fps, the Muvi the second half also recording at 720p 30fps:

Could you secure it (tape/elastic bands/etc) to the arm of your sunglasses, which you will be wearing in exchange of the helmet? ;)
