My daughter is planning to buy our little foster boy a new bike for his 4th birthday and I am totally clueless when it comes to buying childrens bikes, the last time I bought a bike for one of my kids was over twenty years ago.
Our little one is quite a big lad for his age, he stands 106cm in his bare feet (3' 5 3/4") His inside leg measurement is 43.2cm (17")
He does not need stabilisers as he can ride without them, he has learned to ride on a "ben ten" bike that someone gave him a year or so ago.
Can any of you recommend a reasonably priced good childrens bike suitable for him, he will probably be riding the local footpaths and sometimes the local canal towpaths when he comes out for a ride with me.

TIA

It depends on how much you call reasonable ,
I bought a decathlon bike fir my daughter and i was very impressed , this might fit your lad ?

My Boys are around the same size and they both have Specialized Hotrocks, the bikes are well made and you can pick up second hand ones in good condition for a good price.

Think cyberknight and cold have covered the main options.
Our two have hotrocks (2nd hand, bit under half price), but frogs and isla would be better/a bit more expensive and decathlon are usually good value. Isla have a surprisingly high resale value.
Main thing though is to get out there with him. Trips for ice cream etc are always appreciated :-) and don't forget stuff like a bell ... which can give them hours of amusement.

We're very, very pleased with the Islabike Cnoc 14 we got for our 4 year old. Expensive up front but very good quality and resale values are fantastic.
