Which one was okay or were they both silly?

New camera on my tin head so thought I would share my first ride home.
Not all of it though!
Can I ask if I was right or wrong with these...
Vid 1

approaching light controlled roundabout - took filtering as I know the timing pretty well.
Approaching last car on far left you will see light for other traffic turn red and then I go having checked that no silly begger is jumping light on right. I know what you will all say......

Vid 2

Same journey.
I went before the van (his window was open) - and he let me go. Not bad for a white van man.
He would have had to go left or where I went that is rule at this junction.
I think I was in the wrong here...usually I let them go and go next as the car behind will see me.

Opinions welcome - please be easy on me though folks if I am a complete caber tosser.

Technically what you did in the first vid looked like a rlj. I prefer to take a roundabout in the middle of the car lane and if its a wee bit busy use a car to shield me through (to take any impact ;)) maybe slotting in one or two cars back and if there's no space and 8 cars cant get through wait at the back and be patient. The same approach would have avoided the incident in the second vid but thumbs up to wvm

It looked like a RLJ because it was one. Very bad.

If it wasn't for the good manners of the WVM on the second vid you could likely have been toast. Make it clearer what you are up to. It's not just red light jumping that pisses drivers off, it's not knowing what the hell errant cyclists are up to which leads to them having to be ultra cautious, put all their attention on you and potentially bring them into conflict with other vehicles. Or it causes them to go oh fark it and end up taking people out.

You need to be more patient and considerate in your riding.

Lee and Jezton are right: The RLJ was thoughtful (you thought about it) but firstly, what would have happened if one of the drivers there (particularly the one on your left) had made the same thoughtful decision and dropped his clutch as you came by? This is also precisely the type of RLJ which invites a 'punishment pass' later. Whilst only bad drivers will do this, don't deliberately put yourself in the wrong.
The second one: You have no better right than the van to be on the roundabout first, in fact less right as you are overtaking (on the approach to a hazard = bad idea). Hang back and drop into lane behind the van, or one day you'll come across a less polite (or a slightly dozy) driver and get taken out.

I know you are all correct - just thought I would seek some views folks. They are gratefully received.

I thought the first one okay, appreciate that left hand car may have thought similar - just wanted to get past the second set of lights.
Second one - was going to get in behind van but thought that he had no room to get out as the cars often back up here to block the left lane from moving forwards. Obviously he had enough room! Big hand to him though.

I do try to improve my riding each time I go out and do my best to acknowledge go drivers that hang back etc with a little hands up as they go by.
