Hi folks

I'm looking to buy a chain whip for removing cassettes from time to time when they wear out which is quite often.

Can you guys recommend any brands or real life experiences of these tools?

Regards

Eldridge.

I don't use a chain whip, but instead I use a GEWU oil filter chain wrench. Much the same thing, but with a hulking great cast alloy handle to hang on to. And it's also good for oil filters.

If you can find the bloody things. Mine is half way up the back of the block and impossible to reach (Or even see) unless the car is up in the air.

I've got a jobsworth one came in a starter toolkit from Planet ? Worked fine the time I used it. Will need to again to bring my new wheels into service.
Park tools are well regarded if it’s a one off purchase

Forget a whip this is the only tool you'll ever need

Not sure what brand mine is, but I use an oil-filter tool too
Works fine for 8 - 10 speed cassettes - no need to remove the Ultegra 11-speed on my Gran Fondo...yet)

The . . . the Decathlon gadget is the work of Satan . . . I had a go with one that a customer had (he brought it into the shop for a second opinion) - after trying it my ripped-to-pieces knuckles matched his! It just didn't have enough grip on the sprocket, and even worse if the sprocket was at all worn.
If the lockring is anything like tight you need a fairly long handled chain whip (or a bit of pipe to extend it)
What is quite good is the Park Tool sprocket remover that's like a giant pair of pliers https://www.parktool.com/product/chain-whip-pliers-cp-1 - although it seems to have been discontinued?
