Anyone tried making it this way?

I thought my friend was winding me up but there was a recipe/article about it. He loves it and it's a bit of a weekend ritual for him and his little lad making and eating it together.

I've not had whisky in porridge either.

wouldnt it be easier to just get ready brek lol

30 minutes to make porridge!!! Bloody hell, I'd have eaten the packaging by then I'd be so hungry.

1 cup oats
2 cups water
pinch of salt

Simmer

Serve with honey
I haven't tried whisking and don't think I'll bother - I like my porridge the way I do it now!

I use 1 cup of oats, 1 cup of water, 1 cup of soya milk (adds more protein and the porridge is a bit creamier). I have the pinch of salt, half a teaspoon of honey, and a handful of sultanas. I slice a banana into the porridge once cooked. Oh, and someone gave me a load of bags of milled organic flax seeds so I've been putting about a teaspoon of that in each time for the essential oils.

I don't simmer it, I nuke it... 2 minutes in the microwave, stir, then another minute - perfect!

Milk in porridge????

You've been watching too much foreign telly, Ed! ;)

This water and salt business is fine if you're the sort that wears hessian and doesn't believe in electricity. Or lives in Scotland.

I always remember my Grandfather in Scotland putting salt on his porridge. I love to put a little brown sugar on the top and let it melt.
