White text with black edging for a poster - word doc

Need to make some quick posters this year for various cycling events
I like the idea of using white text over a big background photo, but of course where the image gets lighter the white text disappears
Can I apply a black edge to the text in Microsoft Word somehow ?

Use Word Art in MS Word - gives loads of different types of "fonts" and you can do weird and wonderful(ish) things with them too (wavy lines of text, text in a circle etc.)

Must admit that I find Powerpoint easier to work with for this type of project.

I never seem to be able to control the text with word art, it seems to jump about too easily.
What I have just found is shadow/outline/emboss/engrave check boxes (under font) which may be just what I need. Thanks
