Email is not secure, nothing sent by email is encrypted unless you have encrypted the contents into a file attachment or performed some kind of obfuscation or cryptography to the plain text.

Email is plain text, sent in the clear. You don't know what servers it goes through nor who can read it. It is insecure.

Whilst true, that can be taken the wrong way. The servers and routes in question for email the majority of comms are all reputable businesses with everything to lose from a compromise or illegal data processing.

You are right to point out that email is not for communicating secrets, but it is secure enough for the majority of use cases.

I recently went on line at work to look at a stationary supplier, they have suddenly started to pop up when I go on line for other things, not coincidence at all. At home I get many pop ups and they are all related to previous online searching, holiday companies, furniture etc...
