Got a brief ride Friday afternoon but was too busy doing household stuff Saturday and on Sunday it legged it down all day. Serviced my cycling buddy's headset and took his bike down to his house where I found him banned to the garage to have a big clear-out, so we stood watching the rain and daydreaming about rides we could do. In the 10 miles there and back I saw 6 or 7 cyclists out, plodding along miserably in the wind and rain.

The reservoirs around here are all brimming over. A bucket outside the back door has filled to the brim in five days.

How much does it cost to Oldham?
Me.Twice. Went and did a 40 the day after I got back from holiday over owd betts- got soaked.

Then went and biked and hiked over saddleworth on a mini three peaks on the sunday- got soaked. Good fun though.

I ventured out yesterday, done a nice 160k Audax, rained from the start to 5 miles from the end, it was proper rain as well, you know the stuff that forms a running tap from your chin, it was fun though.

Walking or cycling, I don't mind rain starting while I'm out; I just hate starting in the rain.

Not me. +1 on Globalti's 'not setting out in the rain' philosophy. Years back it didn't bother me, but nowadays I don't deliberately set out to get wet if I can avoid it. Bad enough having to commute in the rain on days when it can't be helped without choosing to set off in it on leisure rides on days when I'm not at work!

I also prefer it if the rain happens when I'm on the home leg of any ride - at least then I can get in, get dry, get the bike clean and dry and know it's not going to get another soaking same day. I've never been able to resist wiping my bike dry when I get to work on a wet day. Don't like the thought of it standing there wet all day long!
