I so rarely get problems with buses when ride. Not sure why, maybe its the times I'm on the bike, the routes I use etc. However today I got caught out and it nearly went pear shaped.

I joined the Hanover Buildings road at the lights and exited the crappy cyclepath and followed a bus down the hill. From the top of the hill he began indicating left. Not a problem in itself, drivers often indicate like that to pull into the last bus stop on the left as seen here (just before the minirab):

So this afternoon I'd carefully followed the bus down, seen him stop and went to pull around. Little did I know as I drew up along side his drivers window that he was now pulling back off and had infact stopped there to flash another bus driver out from Vincents Walk.   So I'm now faced with a bus pulling out from the junction on the left and blocking off potential escape routes to my right. My only option was to hammer on the pedals, accelerate and squeeze through a bike sized gap and somehow get past. Pretty hairy.

Its a first for me to get caught out quite like that and it could have gone nasty. It'll be a junction I watch more carefully in the future should I ever follow a bus down.

Stay safe people!

I think you need a cam then we can get an example of what you are going through.

Oops misread your first sentence.sorry.

Still if you got caught out that way perhaps you will know what to look out for "next time".

He pulled right over to the kerb within the bus stop road markings seen in the google streetview image. If he had been central to the white line I would have remained behind (as I have done in the past). The last bus stop is only some 6 feet or so from the giveway line.

If you look at the corner of the top right of the bus stop road marking and the distance to the center dashed line thats about the size of the gap I ended up having to accelerate through.
