Got into work today to realise that my cable lock had somehow fallen off the bike during the commute.

At lunchtime I decided to go out and buy a new lock, and thought to myself, "what I should do is fasten the lock to the bike rack at work so it will always be there"

At that point I remembered that was what I had done on Friday, and that's why the lock wasn't on the bike.

sure enough the lock was in the parking area, even worse, it was attached to the same point I'd left my bike this morning!

Its called a senior moment, we all have them and they tend to get more common as we get older, they can be both embarrassing and amusing, and often annoying. I walked out of work on Friday, got home and then thought somethings missing, I'd left my bag at work, fortunately all it contained was my empty sarnie box.

Doh! A while ago I bought a cable lock, and stashed it straight in my bag without a second thought. A few days later I pulled up outside the library and triumphantly whipped it out (the lock,, that is) only to find there was no key with it. double doh!

I went to a meeting tonight. When we got there there was a sign on the door saying quiet - yoga in the hall. So we (dragged Mr Summerdays along too:whistle:) stood quietly shuffling our feet, moaning about shouldn't the hosts of the meeting turn up on time at least. Quick look at the letter to discover the meeting is next Monday instead:laugh: - ah well it is good to be early!

More than once I've had to ring my wife from the cafe stop and say 'I don't seem to have my keys, can you please check if they're still in the garage door?' and they always are.

I turned up at the polling station a day early. Turns out I'm suffering with premature election.

I'll see myself out...

I bought a lock for my son not long ago, and discovered - fortunately before he locked his bike up with it - that the key didn't work!
I won't tell you where it came from
I often wonder why people leave their locks behind though - there are quite a few outside the gym - surely you need another one then for when you go somewhere else??

I used to do that with my son's bike at primary school so that we always had a lock there.

I used to leave my lock at work - the bike was in the shed at home.Given how rural we were it was not a problem you could simply take a screwdriver to the shed door and remove it in under 3 minutes which we had to do on several occasions when the lock jammed. That way I could leave my bike safely at work and not carry a 1.5kg D lock around with me all the time. Now I have to cycle with it twice a week to different places... and it is in use at home as well because we don't have anywhere 'safe' to leave the bikes - only out of sight in another rural location.

First one home tonight, as usual, so I'm cooking tea, spuds, beans, and breaded chicken pieces with garlic and herbs, got to about ten minutes before I dished it, the spuds were nearly done and the beans were nicely warm, then I realized, I'd put the chicken in the oven but hadn't turned the oven on.
Dinner was half an hour late and I had to take the beans and spuds off the jets.
