Some months ago, my neighbour's wife saw me on top of the pergola cutting back the roses. She told him how risky it was, and he replied that "he likes danger, he cycles."

So fast forward to today and I'm approaching a junction. I realise I'm approaching my neighbour's work van, so I make sure he has seen me and wave hello. He gives me the thumbs up.

Of course... I'm paying too much attention to him and have to make an emergency stop to avoid hitting the car in front. I tweak the back wheel but manage to dodge him. Can't help but think he is going to rib me something rotten about it next time I see him though... damn dangerous cyclists. Have to hold my hands up on that one.

Pride cometh before the fall is the phrase I think. Oh well, at least you're OK and mild embarrassment is better than exchanging insurance details and a trip to A&E.
