When I worked for MFI 25 years ago the stores used to close for a week up to and including Xmas day then would be open every day from Boxing Day onwards. As a warehouse manager I was expected to be there everyday until 'the rush subsided' sometimes this would take nearly three weeks and never less than a fortnight. Bonuses and overtime made for some pretty fat pay checks and staying sober on New year's day was only a minor inconvenience.
Wouldn't swap the job for my current teaching position though
