Why do you always fall off right at the end of your commute?

50 yards from the door ... just as I turned onto the little plot where our office is ... and bang - big girly splits that made my eyes water a bit, and plonk ... cyclist meets road.

Never mind the traffic riddled icey 10 miles I'd just ridden - without a single problem - with traffic being ever so considerate (apart from the two chavs in a nova and corsa - the ones with the drainpipe exhaust and elastic band engines - who swerved around me only to hit a line of traffic that I simple breezed past [brings a smile to my face every time ... lol]) and without any of the ice-filled pot holes causing me a problem.

Anyway, there's always an upside to these things and tonight I will be popping along to audition as a soprano in the local church choir ...

Cheers,
Shaun

I fell off this morning. I was pretty icy in Manchester this morning. I took a corner too fast........Spesh one way me straight on. Thats the first time in 3 years of commute so not too bad.
Shaun, perhaps we could do some harmonies?

Andy.

Complacency I guess.

You got through the worst of it and let your guard down thinking you'd got off Scot free (

I came off in the snow on Tuesday on a side road in Northenden. A nice man came to help me up and he fell as well!! Quite farcical but fortunatley neither of us badly hurt. Will stick to main roads in future.

But what's the 1st thing you check when you do fall off? With me it's the bike before myself!!

To check if anyone is looking.

Had my first clipless moment of 2011 yesterday. Just fitted new A530 pedals on my commuting bike, had to stop suddenly on a hill and clip didnt disengage over I went like a felled tree, a motorist stopped to check I was ok which I was and it was nice of him.

Realized after the nice person in Shimano factory had tightened the tension screw right up and I normally run them fairly slack so my usual light flick of the heel wasnt enough

I hope you are ok Admin (I've found I tend to have some sore body parts the day after a fall but then they go away again).

I managed to fall off turning off of my driveway yesterday. The normally gritted road had a lovely transparent layer of solid black ice on it and as I turned left the bike didn't

This led to me going straight back into the house and getting out the hybrid with studded tyres. I really should be riding that one every day atm but it feels slow and heavy
