Why has my laptop suddenly stopped connecting to wi-fi automatically?

Youre cut from the same cloth as my dad in that case He worked with the same but dealt more with Unix & some other thing begging with 'Si' or 'SY' that sounds like 'simmonds' but i cant remember for the life of me what it was. They used to build big rack mount server units and stuff back in the 80s along side companies like IBM before sun microsystems took over the market

I thought so too - I had to dredge the name back up from distant memories!

Not that one but im sure he did work on it.

It will come to me eventually. Basically a lot of operating systems have come and gone in the server space in the last 40 years and dad would have had training on it. We were cleaning out the shed a few years ago and we came across all the notes and reference material he had during his training over the years.

I still have a Unisys golf umbrella - I think it came free when I ordered some backup tapes about 30 years ago.

I have used VMS, RSX, SCO, Solaris, SunOS and various Linux flavours and without a doubt, VMS is the best O/S ever written
