mrs alecetc drops her cell phone, breaking the screen in the process, and i look up how/how much to fix it etc and she goes on as if i'd not only dropped it but jumped up and down on it with racing cleats…

i've even offered a sim-swop with mine until hers gets fixed but that just made things worse…

(sensible hat on) Because Mrs Alecetc is worried/upset/concerned about something else entirely and breaking her phone is the last straw. Not a big straw, but the last one. She is also tired, and wonders how to do everything that she thinks needs doing by the 24th. (takes sensible hat off).

When women have a problem, we tend to get emotional at the same time, says I diplomatically. Men just get on with fixing things, etc.
