Widest Tyres?

Can anyone tell me what the widest tyres I can put on a Sirrus Elite with the stock rims please? I currently have Conti Gator Skins 700 x 28 but am looking to get something a bit more durable for light trails.

Ideally I'd like to stick a set of Marathon + Tour on at 700 x 35c but am not sure they'll fit?

Probably trial and error is your best way forward here. See if you can get hold of some old tyres to check for fit so that you don't waste any money. Be aware though that an really old tyre might not be quite as wide as it was when new but it should still give you a fair idea of what will work before you blow your dosh.

Sheldon Brown's website recommendations for your wheel, which I presume is the same as my Vita Elite is anything between 23 and 32 but I think that is maybe being conservative and you may get away with a 35.

Do you want to improve comfort, or durability.. if the later, why not get a 28 with increased puncture protection...?

Same bike with 28c all terrains. Try some 32c nobblies for off road riding
