Wiener schnitzel?

I did an exhibition (and some may say made an exhibition of myself) in Munich last year and at the recommendation of a colleague who had been to the sausage-loving country a few times before I tried wiener schnitzel. A lot.

Now nearly a year has past since my last wiener schnitzel and I've got a hankering.

But where the deuce in the UK can one find wiener schnitzel?

It's ok but probably not up to the standard you were getting in Austria, and its pork rather than veal.

Wiener Schnitzel is not German cuisine, it is Austrian cuisine. I spent the last year of my working life commuting to Vienna (Wien) and lived on schnitzel of which there are many different types. Fine filling and cheap eating.

Yes, Aldi do them and I discovered yesterday that LiDL also do them, not chilled but frozen. I must admit that I thought it was supposed to be veal but it seems that pork now goes under the same name.

Easy to DIY. Get some pork/veal, bash it out thinly, salt, flour, egg, breadcrumbs, fry.

The schnitzel is indeed a staple on German menus but the Vienna (Wiener) Schnitzel is the national dish of Austria.
I prefer the Schnitzel Cordon Bleu, a schnitzel filled with ham and cheese

Just a request from me that you check the origin of the veal, and do a bit of research around the conditions veal in general is raised. It is a legitimate and ethically sourced by-product of the dairy industry in many cases, but my conscience won't allow me to eat white veal.
