I always thought the Wiggle "15% off when spending £100" thing was misleading, I never really liked that marketing ploy by them despite them being a decent company.

Good its about time

I got an email when they had the 15% off your order over £50.00 thing, so I added a hope light to the basket an it discounted the basket by a couple of quid and I thought thats odd thats when I noticed the "off list price bit" so the list price was already discounted by 12% or something so they only knocked off another £3 which brought it to about the same price as everyone else was selling it for so I didnt buy it.

Brilliant! I was caught out by a "15% off when you spend £50" offer just the other week. Spent ages researching shorts, saw the ones I wanted after checking out a couple of reviews, added it to my basket and then got told that I couldn't have the discount at all because the shorts were already discounted by 15% off RRP.

When I checked the other listings most were discounted by a similar amount anyway.

Well done to the person that complained, because I just swore at my computer for the wasted effort and was typically British about it (i.e. I moved on to something else and didn't say a word to Wiggle).

I'm pleased the ASA are cracking down more on technicalities like this. But Wiggle are still the cheapest for most of the stuff I buy and I'll continue to use them. I certainly would have understood that 15% off meant 15% off on list price, though. It's the same everywhere else isn't it?

What annoyed me was I clicked through a link on a newsletter that contained the offer. So in my head I assumed all the items included in the clothing category after following the link were "in the sale".

Evans pull the exact same stunt in the little booklets they hand out at the checkouts. When the vouchers in the little book state 15% (or whatever%) off a particular item, they mean off the original list price prior to any discount they've already applied.
Got caught out by that recently when I tried to stock up with brake pads in vast quantity, and actually ended up with 5% discount on the quoted price of the items.

It's a long time since I've found Wiggle to be the cheapest on anything.

I agree. For mail order, I tend to use Merlin, CRC or Planet X. Spa Cycles are surprisingly price-competitive too, and it's nice to use a "proper" shop.

If you want the cheapest prices for Shimano, it's worth looking at the German site such as Rose Bikes.

I got some mudguards from wiggle t'other day... I'm most upset that I didn't get any sweeties.

And they came in the most ridiculously large box. I could almost have got in there myself. In fact I'll keep it in case the recession bites harder.

Wiggle on the whole are ludicrously expensive. You get the occasional decent offer but these certainly have become few and far between.Like what happens with most good British enterprises it got sold off for the cash.

Same here. I usually only end up on Wiggle these days if CRC or whoever else is out of stock and I need whatever it is in a hurry.

I have used them in the past, but on the whole i will always use a lbs if possible.

One reason is the wife and I both work,so postage is always a problem, then the courier company doesnt turn up etc etc. If i need something and am in town i would rather pay a few quid extra and get good service, plus if i have any problems with an item i can return it without any fuss.
