Williams v Date-Krumm

Well, I've just watched an epic encounter which ended in the expected Williams victory.

Is it just me, or does the women's game lose something when a 5' 4" touch player gets blown off the court by a 6' 1" power machine whose game depends on huge serves and incessant topspin?

And Venus Williams never apologises for net chords.....

I saw part of the match. Not sure she was 'blown off' the court. Could have gone either way I think.

On a more general point it does seem that the 'power game' of Williams does detract from matches.

I'm surprised some of the less powerful players don't make her work harder. (yes I know some of them have all on just to get the ball back) but she is a big woman and getting her to haul her bulk from side to side would at least give her something to think about.
So often she is given the ball at her feet and all she has to do is blast it wherever she wants.
