My old Windows XP computer died last week, new one has Windows 7. I'm disappointed to find that Outlook Express is missing. So what do I do now? Buy a MS product, or download Mozilla Thunderbird, or something else? Help!

Thunderbird is great. Works with pop and IMAP.
I use gmail and have IMAP enabled. Works across all machines.

Doesn't it have Windows Live Mail installed? This is the successor to OLX that comes with Vista / Win 7 / Win 8. It's an Email Client, News Reader, Feed Reader and Calendar.

Thanks.

Hmmm, can't see it listed as a programme. I'm on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit if that makes a difference?

Looks like I have to download it. off to the MS site .......................

Try opening MS messenger that seemed to liven it up on my Daughter machine, also it might be part of an update that you have not downloaded yet, Windows Live Essentials?

Loco, you are right, and I've now downloaded Windows Live Essentials, but am I right in thinking that Live mail is a form of Hotmail, browser based? Or is it a stand alone bit of software. I'm confused (and not very techie).

It appears in the program list so assume it is local and accessible online.
