So you on the comp at night and the screens a bit bright even though you've turned down the brightness...

Is their a way of making - the window that opens, usually by de-fault it has a white background = is their a way to grey this or darken it OR even invert the colours

I hope someone understands..as I go on the laptop in the dark ie now in the dark and its on its lowest brightness yet its still 'bright'...

Or will I just have to put up with it?

right click a blank area of the desktop, select properties, have a play with the colour settings you find there, change the background desktop colour to black and remove desktop wallpaper, it looks nice and not harsh on the eye IMO.

If you are using XP, then simply search and download a theme from a reputable site.

I use the black Zune theme without the background as I like it much more than the standard blue theme.

Or, slightly easier, right click on your desktop wallpaper / background and left click on "properties" and click on the "appearance" tab. Then click "advanced" and change the colour of the Active windows (click on the background in the window which pops up and change the "Colour 1" colour) from white to, say, a dark grey.

You might need to play with the text as well.

It does depend on which particular programs you are loading at the time, not everything uses that colour scheme, web sites may have their own background colours, for instance.
