What do people have against tanins in red wine? I know everyone wants smooth and easy these days, but without a healthy tanin level, a red wine will never develop real complexity. But I'm sure the wine in the OP is something else... one of my golden rules is if it feels like it's removing the top layer of your tooth enamel, it isn't worth it.

No it's some Italian wine with very little information on the label. Itallian guy gave me it.

It's lovely but hard work. I've had 2 glasses and when I was in the toilet there it looked like I'd ate a packet of blackjacks.
Sangiovese grapes. Probably.

Now that you have opened it, you might improve it a bit with lots of air. Give it a good shake in a roomy decanter, then again half an hour later.

Good god man...he wants to drink it not marry it....plus he'll be pi553d by then anyway.
