Just been looking for some wintrer bibs, alot of them seem to come with out pads.

Why? Most summer ones have pads.

You can get them with pads. The padless ones are designed to be worn over bib shorts - a fair more practical solution imho.

I've never seen winter bib s without pads, I suppose you learn something new every day

I've had both types of tights and I prefer those without pads because the pads in the shorts tend to be better than the pads in tights, and also because I only wear tights when the weather is really bad and then an extra layer helps keep the frost at bay!

went out today, temp got down to zero celsius. Legwarmers and some 3/4 roubaix bib niks, toasty. Only cold bit was feet, but I only have summer shoes and some flimsy overshoes, but it was manageable for the 2 1/2 hours I was out.

Coldest I've ever ridden in, as I am a new ish rider,

Tights with pads is more common over here in Italy. But, my UK purchased ones are pad-less I am uncertain what the rationale and reasons for the differing styles but can presume it is down to temperatures. I find that even in mid Dec, wearing bib shorts and then tights over the top is just too warm and I either wear just my Italian purchased padded tights or wear leg warmer.
